Rick Turek was an exhibiting artist in "Art In The Raw", a group exhibition of outsider art at Audart, in the Spring of 1997.  The show was organized and curated by Chris Butler of the Chris Butler Group in Branford, Connecticut.

Rick's work includes large-scale painted reliefs in the medium of encaustic.  His pieces reveal a strong interest in the effects of time on objects.  He is also a creative imaging specialist at Big Daddy Digital in Wallingford, Connecticut, where he works with such issues as composition, critical colour, retouching and web design.

In the 1970’s, Mr. Turek served as an art curator and project manager at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Connecticut, where he developed workshops and lectures, cataloged the permanent collection, and acted as liaison to boards of education and community arts groups. He holds a B.S. in Art Education from SCSU, and several certificates in digital imaging applications.

He has recently participated in group shows at Artworks in New Bedford, MA, at Willoughby Wallace Memorial Library of Stony Creek, at the Mill Gallery in Guilford, the Slater Museum in Norwich, and the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury. From 1997 until 1999, he was also a member of the Chris Butler Group Gallery at Bittersweet Farm in Branford.
